Child Care

At The Oaks we offer a number of vocational qualifications for learners in key stage 4. The courses on offer vary from year to year depending on pupils’ needs and interests. Pupils who choose to do ‘Child Care’ will complete modules towards an 

NCFE CACHE ENTRY LEVEL CERTIFICATE IN CARING FOR A CHILD/CHILDREN (ENTRY 3) 

This qualification develops the basic skills needed to care for a baby or young child. There is a choice of units – from setting a routine through to healthy lifestyles and the importance of play and learning.

The Certificate requires 19 credits, or pupils can achieve an award for 9 credits. 

Work is assessed by the teacher in school using a range of methods. This could include tasks set by us such as designing charts or leaflets, completing worksheets, online research, practical work or oral questioning. Pupils can usually complete the Award in a year. 

Learners who have done this course could progress to:- 

The Entry Level Certificate in Caring for a Child / Children, Level 1 in Caring for Children qualifications or the Level 1 Personal and Social Development qualifications as they share some units with this qualification. Credits achieved from these units can be transferred over and count towards the next qualification
