The Rainbow Room was originally a lunch time club which started in 2022. This was changed to an Enrichment activity in 2023.
It is a safe space for LGBT+ students and their allies to meet, make friends, do rainbow themed crafts and work towards making The Oaks as diverse and inclusive as possible.
Our mascot is Rosalyn, a rosy maple moth. This is a symbol of transformation and acceptance.
So far, we have created this section of the website to provide information for students, staff, parents and carers. The design and resources were created by members of the Rainbow Room.
We also plan to develop resources on gender and sexuality for use in RRS lessons.
Here are some quotes from members of the group as to why they joined-
“I want to learn to be a supportive ally.”
“I like to connect with people who have similar pronouns and views.”
