Online Safety Advice

E-Safety is a challenging subject and not just a subject for children in school, its a subject for everyone at all times!  With this in mind, we have put together a selection of links that will help you to be careful when using the internet and some great tips on keeping safe.

Computer Parental Controls

There are several ways to keep your children safe on your home computer or laptop.

Windows Vista and Windows 7 offer parental control systems that allow you to block or control what your children can see. The links below will help you set these up.

Apple Mac computers provide some controls for parents which you can read about below.

If you are not using the default internet browser on your computer then you may find that the controls above are not applied. However most of the common browsers will provide some parental controls of their own. You should investigate this before installing a browser that can be used by your children.

All of the modern games consoles can now access the internet but also provide some controls so that parents can have some control over what can be accessed.The links below will provide information on how to use these controls.

Mobiel Device Parental Controls

There a many mobile devices available now that can access the internet. The websites below provide some helpful information about the potential dangers of mobile devices.

Apple products come with some parental controls that you can read about in the link below but the other products often have 3rd party apps available that can provide parental control. You can find out more about these by searching on the internet.

If your child’s device is accessing the internet on a mobile phone network then the networks are required to provide a content filter to protect young users. However this is normally switched off to start with so you will need to contact them to enable it.
