Virgin Hot Air Balloon Pilot Visit

On Tuesday we had a really exciting day at The Oaks. ‘Woody’ a hot air balloon pilot who flies the North East Virgin Balloon came to visit the school today. The day started with a series of assemblies where Woody shared his background of flying and how he became qualified as a commercial pilot for hot air ballooning. As well as this he shared the science behind flying a hot air balloon which was very interesting. There were lots of questions from both pupils and staff alike which Woody gladly answered.

After the assembly all pupils had the chance to visit and experience what it was like to get into the hot air balloon basket, this was a particular highlight of the morning. The pupils and staff would like to thank Woody for giving up his time to come and visit us this week.
