6th form Duke of Edinburgh students embark on Earth Works Volunteering Project

This week our Bronze, Silver and Gold students met Earth Works leader Naomi Foster at Hamsterley Forest to start their volunteering  project. They will be carrying out a number of varied environmental tasks every week through to Christmas  which will include litter picking , seed sowing, plug planting, site maintenance, river fly surveys, tree planting and willow weaving to name just a few!

At Hamsterley this week, they completed some litter picking and lopping branches to keep the walking trail routes clean and tidy.

We are looking forward to the coming weeks where we will also visit Wear rivers Trust and Bowlees as well as returning to Hamsterley to continue the good work!
