Enterprise
The Enterprise curriculum is designed to prepare students for the competitive world of employment by introducing them to the concepts of business and enterprise, as well as financial planning and ICT software programmes that students will need to use in their everyday work life.
In Key stage 4, the NCFE Award in Developing Enterprise Skills (Entry 3) qualification provides learners with a basic introduction to the main principles of Enterprise. Learners will research local enterprising people or entrepreneurs and identify their own enterprise skills and areas for growth. As part of the Developing Enterprise qualification, they’ll then apply these skills by taking part in a brief enterprise activity.
Learners will study two units of work which include:
- Unit 01 Introduction to enterprise skills
- Unit 02 Participate in an enterprise activity
All learners must complete a portfolio of evidence that shows achievement of all the relevant learning outcomes and assessment criteria. The portfolio of evidence can be produced in many forms ensuring it is accessible and achievable for all students. Alongside practical sessions students follow a course booklet to ensure they are clear which learning objective the activity links to and the next steps.
Learners who successfully complete this qualification should have developed their skills and knowledge to help them understand about the world of work and seeking employment through the application of enterprise skills. They could continue further education and training in specific occupational areas to enhance their employment chances, or move into employment if appropriate.
