Our hens have been busy laying eggs since the first one was discovered last week. Yesterday we discovered the sixth egg and had enough for our first box. The first box was presented to Mrs Ross who had correctly guessed when the first egg would be laid in our guess the date competition. Future boxes will be sold to students and staff to help raise money to pay for the hens food and upkeep.
This morning when we went to feed the chickens we discovered that one of them had laid their first egg! We hope it is the first of many.
Back in May we were lucky enough to see Chicks hatching from their eggs here in school. We decided to keep 3 of those chicks. The chickens are now in their new home here in the school gardens. Over the summer holidays Mr White built a new pen for them to live in and we are now eagerly awaiting their first eggs. You can see some photos of them on the photo section of the website!
