Dear Parents and Carers

Due to Teaching Unions expressing their concerns in regard to keeping children and staff safe in schools, I am writing to inform you that The Oaks School will now be closed from Monday 4th January until Monday 18th January. I am very sorry for the mixed messages that you have received over the past few days however I am sure you have all been aware of the escalating concerns and media coverage we have recently seen.  All pupils will now move onto Remote Learning from Wednesday 6th January. We will be sending out individual pupil timetables and login and password details tomorrow.

Please note, the school will only be open for children of critical workers and children risk assessed by the school as being safer in school.  Parents and carers will need to provide proof of their job role and work patterns to access this provision. The Oaks follows specific criteria, which is supported by the Local Authority, which specifies which children are deemed vulnerable in our setting. The purpose of the school closure is to reduce transmission of the virus and we carefully consider a child’s vulnerability against their risks of being at school. Having an EHC or being a Looked after Child does not necessarily mean that your child will have access to this provision. We will contact you if we are able to offer your child a place.
