Oxfam Dressed by The Kids Day

Today some of our staff were dressed by their children in aid of Oxfam. We can’t see any difference in their state of dress but agree they all look fabulous.

Learning about environmental issues!

This morning students in sixth form learnt about environmental issues. A teacher from OASES talked to students about electricity, how it’s made and what we can do to save electricity! Our top tip is to make sure you switch lights off when you leave the room! 

Helping the Environment

This term in RE, 6th Form are exploring the question “Does care for the environment really matter?” Today we have improved our school environment by picking up litter from the outside areas.

Anti bullying competition

Students took part in an Anti bullying competition with the theme ‘make a noise about bullying.’ They created posters, stories, artwork and photography on the theme. This week, the winners were announced. Laura Restall won 3rd prize of £5 for her poster. Daniel Townsend won 2nd prize of £10 for his poster and Lewis Brewster won 1st prize of £20 for his short story. Well done to everyone who took part. 

Exploring Art

6th Form students have been working towards their NOCN award in independent living. This week they completed their exploring Art unit. Groups completed their own painting by following step by step instructions. Here they are with some of the finished art

Fair trade Fortnight

In family groups, students are learning about Fairtrade. They will experience a range of Fairtrade foods and complete activities around the theme of Fairtrade.

Sport Relief

Students have been selling wristbands in aid of Sport Relief

6th Form Enterprise

6th Form have been making a selection of items that they will be selling in school tomorrow. Items include sweet bags 50p-75p, butterfly necklaces £1, soaps and bath bombs 50p and Easter cards for 20p. Peg bags and bags for life can be made to order and are £2-£4.

Textiles After School Club

Pupils have been been making beanie buddy penguins in after school club this term and finished them today. Everyone was very proud of their finished beanies.
