Pancake day

6th form students learned about shrove Tuesday and Lent. We talked about the Christian meaning behind pancake day, designed and decorated our own pancakes as well as practising flipping our pancakes.

6th form art

Some of 6th form have been creating masks of their own design using tissue paper. They researched different designs and are now creating masks of their own design from their research. Some students are using the same technique to create decorative bird boxes.



Chinese New Year 

6th form have been celebrating Chinese New Year. In food technology, we have made a range of snacks for other classes in 6th form and made our own chicken stir fry. We also made a Chinese dragon.

Spanish culture

Today 6th Form students made sangria. They used chopped fruit, fruit juice, water, cinnamon and tea bags! Everyone enjoyed tasting it. 

Family groups

Today in a Family groups, we worked on anti bullying and Armistice day producing cakes, artwork and poems.




Bonfire morning in 6th form

Today 6th form learned about bonfire night. They took part in activities to learn about the gunpowder plot, made firework pictures and a guy. We also made bonfire night foods like baked potatoes, sausages, marshmallows and hot chocolate

Poppy Appeal

In this weeks KS3 and KS4 assemblies, we have been discussing the poppy appeal which raises money for The Royal British Legion. We are remembering why we wear a poppy and learning about Rememberence Day. We are selling poppies in school and other poppy themed items such as key rings, snap bands and bracelets. We will be selling them now until Rememberence Day.




Planning a Halloween party

As part of their key skills lessons, 6th form planned a party. They took part in activities to plan and prepare music, food, drink, decorations and games for today where we celebrated Halloween.

Butterwick plant a daffodil appeal

This afternoon 6th form planted daffodils that we received from the Butterwick hospice. Students each donated £1 per bulb to go towards the charity and planted them around the 6th form garden.

Rights Respecting Schools Logo Winners

After much thought and discussion, I am happy to announce the winners of the RRS Logo competition. The winning design will feature on all our work  that relates to the convention of rights for children and the first second and third prize winners will receive a certificate and prize.
